Our Top Social Media Tips for 2015

2015Last year we brought you seven tips from the experts of what you should be doing when it comes to social media. Hopefully you were in the 12% of those who keep resolutions and implemented those tips into your social media strategy for 2014.

Well, 2015 has rolled around and we are already into the second month of the year. I’ve compiled a short list of tips for your social media plan in 2015 that will definitely make your company stand out from the crowd. Are you all ready?

One:

If your business is not on Twitter, you need to rethink your strategy so far. Twitter recently announced a partnership with Google to have the search engine index public tweets in real time. This brings SEO back into the game big time.

Two:

A recent study showed that there are 75% more videos posted to Facebook today than there was a year ago. Videos have the potential to garner more engagement than a photo, link or text post and create brand advocates for your social channels. Six weeks ago, we initiated something called “Tuesday’s Tip” on our social channels and have seen a huge increase in exposure and engagement with just 15 seconds (or less) of video on each. This brings me to my third point, which is:

Use Facebook Video Playlists and promoted videos. This is something relatively new to me and it got my inner nerd super excited when I discovered this feature. The feature is somewhat reminiscent of the playlist feature on Youtube, which I also love. You can add a description for your playlist and a title, so viewers know exactly what they’re in for.

Four:

Since there has been a tremendous growth of visuals on social media and with over 300 million active users on Instagram, it’s a no-brainer to be active on this platform. We are visual creatures. Just be sure to post according to the audience on Instagram: in other words, be relevant and not boring!

Five:

Learn how to use hashtags effectively. I feel like I shouldn’t have to explain what a hashtag is, since they’ve been around for over seven years. I’m asked on a monthly basis by others what a hashtag is. I like to think of them as simple, free advertising. Use them, don’t abuse them.

Six:

Content is still king. Think about who your customers are and craft content centered around them. Think of the last conversation you had with someone who just talked about how great they were and all the things they loved. Boring, right? Start a conversation that matters by creating content for the correct audience and you’ll have listeners and engagement in no time.

Seven:

Humanize your brand. I feel like each of the six previous posts all come back to this point. By being yourself, not just a mechanical profile that processes out automatic updates (think: Twitter statuses that are automatically posted when you upload a photo to Facebook), you will attract people. People love honesty and good qualities. Let those shine through and all of these other tips will fall into place. Be human and have a strategy and you’ll be a winner.

In Conclusion…

So there you have it. My seven must have social media tactics for 2015. Implement these and watch the growth of your social accounts climb. I don’t know about you, but it always gives me a slight adrenaline rush when I see something I’ve created and posted get views and engagement.
